Meet some of the animals around the farm

Edna – DOB 15 Nov 2021
Queen Bee around here
Edna is where it all began, our first pig. Spoilt to the extreme, expects a minimum of 6 scratches or hugs a day. She is very vocal about anyone getting attention when she should be. She is a wonderful mummy pig and her bond with us forged our path and we are not sorry one bit. Enda’s name came from our theme of Dragons, we looked up dragon names and Edna means Fiery Red, she sure lives up to her name.
Edna gave birth to her 4th farrow of piglets on the 30th of November 2025.

Missy – DOB Early 2023
Missy is Edna’s daughter from her first litter.
Missy is the second in charge around here. She ensures that Elsa remembers her place as number 3 in charge pig. She’s a friendly sow that enjoys easy days munching on whatever she can. Missy is half duroc and half birkshire, this is why she has the black and white markings.

Doc the Turkey
We received solid advice that life was better with Turkeys, so we decided to learn about these funny birds.
Doc has been enjoying showing off to educators and little learners all over town. It is fascinating to watch him woo new friends and show his snood off to all that will look. Farmer Andrew still has the #1 beard on the farm, but Doc’s black beard is a solid 2nd place.
Gobbledoc!

Elsa – DOB Early 2023
Elsa just adores her farmers and enjoys water and scratching on anything she can. Elsa is from Peppa and George, past animals on our farm, they were smaller pigs. This is why Elsa is only the size of a medium dog and she won’t grow bigger. Keep up the great work with your piglets Elsa, thank you!

Chickens – We’ve got diversity
We don’t even try to do chicken maths here, but there are quite a few.
Our chickens take it to the road once a year as they compete with other feathered friends for top chick at the Marberg show. It was on the 11th of May 2024, and our chickens took home lots of awards. They didn’t seem to care too much, but we were proud of them. The Marberg show is back again this year and on the 9th May 2026, our feathered friends will be making an appearance.
Each month we’re adding to our chicken flock and it is becoming very diverse. Come and see for yourself.

Ducks galore
Muscovy, Call, Peking, Khaki Campbell and Cayuga ducks
4 years ago now, we purchased 1 male and 3 female ducklings. This is where duck maths did its thing and now we do not know how many ducks live here at Dragon Fields. Our only issue is that they seem to do a lot of freeloading and don’t pay much rent (eggs). We enjoy watching the ducks and learning about their many different traits.
We joke about forming a duck army, with there being well over 80 ducks on our farm, there is well and truly room for hundreds more!

2 New little guinea pigs
These adorable additions will be enjoying life on the farm, moved to fresh grass daily. They do have a busy schedule as they also visit early learning centres for a week at a time to meet new friends and show them how to care for these little piggies.
